Selangor excos’ assets online for all to see

By | March 14, 2009

This another god effort by the Pakatan Rakyat government to make public the assets of all executive councilors (Exco) members.

Asset declarations – one of the many promises in the Pakatan Rakayat manifesto – were also mooted by the Prime Minister but it was not implemented in the wake of March 8 general election last year.

In Selangor, all 10 exco members, including Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, have submitted their asset declaration forms to the State Secretary.

However, only assets obtained after exco members assumed the helm of the state administration will be made available for public scrutiny.

The Sultan of Selangor, in his royal address, at the opening of the second session of the 12th legislative assembly, today, announced that details of the assets of the Exco members will be available online.

I have tried to view it unfortunately, the portal seems to be down and I think is due to heavy traffic. Living in Malaysia, I think this is something new and Barisan Nasional leader I think dont have the gut to do this. Eventhough, NS BN exco claimed that they have done it first, but not through the website.
