Pikom — the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia — wants to create an online version of the Malaysian Mega Sale, the annual nationwide shopping promotion involving hundereds of malls in the country. The campaign, called Buy Online, will be held during Pikom’s inaugural National ICT (information and communications technology) Month, or NIM in short which will run from July 20 to Aug 20.

All e-merchants who like to participate in NIM can register themselves at www.mybeli.com starting 10 july.

NIM 2009 will include a three-day leadership summit, a software and services showcase, a PC fair, and an eWaste recycling campaign. The recycling campaign seeks to educate consumers on the importance of ensuring that their electronic and electrical equipment do not clog dumpsites and poison the Earth.

It hopes to make NIM an annual event. The event is supported by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and the Multimedia Development Corporation, the caretaker of the country’s MSC Malaysia initiative.
