If you happen to receive phone calls regarding your bank account, please be extra carefull. Many cases has been reported recently, this cases involve few banks. The following notice I read from Bank Islam website. Please read and share with all.
There have been attempts of fraud through phone calls from the numbers below:
- 1-300-88-8686
- 03-2692 0000 and
- 03-2178 8889
claiming that you have unsettled bills with Bank Islam.
Consequently, you will also be given the number 03-2772 7331 that is supposedly belong to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)’s False Credit Card Unit. Please ignore the calls because those are scams. These activities have been informed to the authorities and BNM
For precautions, please:
- Do not disclose any personal and account information to any suspicious individual or phone call;
- Do not be deceived by the phone calls claiming to be a personnel from Bank Islam or BNM;
- Refer to the respective banks for confirmation. Retrieve valid telephone numbers from reliable sources i.e. Bank Islam official website or Telekom Malaysia directory;
- Lodge a police report if you have received any suspicious phone calls i.e an individual requesting you to deposit money into any accounts.
