Anwar has won by-election

No wonder I can’t find any tv channel reviewing the by-election result. It just another bias action by the media. Based on PKR, Anwar polled 31,949 votes against Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah’s 14,297. Hanafi Hamat of Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia (Akim) received 74 votes.

For me the result means the Rakyat still want Anwar. Anwar is such a big name in Permatang Pauh. He has contributed so much to the local. People proud with him. Despite the sodomies allegation, despite so many things done by BN, people still want him.

Maybe, Pak Lah should change as well. Wake up and step down !

‘Blackouts’ for users of pirated Windows

What do you think of this news ? Get ready for blackout if you are the pirated windows user ? Oh no..please dont do that !

PETALING JAYA: Starting Wednesday, users with pirated copies of Microsoft Corp’s Windows XP Professional operating system (OS) on machines that are Internet-capable could find their computer displays going black and with no screen icons visible.

There are 8.6 million users of Win XP Pro in Malaysia and about three million are expected to suffer the “blackouts,” according to Microsoft Malaysia.

To continue working, the user would need to reset the machine’s desktop background. Everything will return to normal. But when 60 minutes are up, the black screen will reappear and the user must go through the whole process again.

This will keep happening until the user licenses the copy of Win XP Pro on the machine by going to a Microsoft reseller or getting a licence online at the www.microsoft.com/malaysia/genuine. Each licence costs RM580.

This initiative is part of Microsoft’s antipiracy campaign, dubbed Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA), aimed at educating users on the benefits of using genuine software, K.T. Ng, Microsoft Malaysia’s director of client business group, told The Star on Tuesday.

Win XP Professional was chosen for the antipiracy blitz because it is the most pirated version of Microsoft’s Win XP operating system. The other version is Windows XP Home, which is for home users.

This is the second time that Microsoft is needling users of pirated copies of its operating system to go legitimate. Two years ago, it sprang its WGA initiative on local users of Win XP Pro and Win XP Home.

That time, a pop-up message showed up whenever the PC with a pirated Windows OS was switched on, with the intention of shaming business and home users into getting legitimate copies. The message said “This copy of Windows is not genuine.”

It was quite successful. At that time, there were about 5.1 million pirated copies of Windows XP Pro and after the exercise, about two million of the copies were validated, said Microsoft Malaysia.

“We are encouraged by that response,” said Ng. “So this time, we have escalated the penalty to a black screen that reappears every hour until the user validates his or her copy of Win XP Pro.”

Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, chief executive officer of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), lauded the WGA campaign.

MDeC is caretaker of the country’s MSC Malaysia initiative, which is working to build up the nation’s knowledge economy.

“MDeC respects the rights of companies to protect their intellectual property. It’s a reminder that software piracy doesn’t pay, especially when Malaysians are themselves putting a lot of effort into creating original software,” he said.

USD370 for one year

Through my friend at EzzyGetACar, I managed to secure USD370 by selling advertisement space in various website. Eventhough, the owner is very new in this blogging world, but with his dedication and determination,  he managed to get a sponsor for his blog and later of course recommended me to the same advertiser who has today transferred $370 in my paypal.

What else new on me ? I am thinking to create new website similar to advertlets, offer banner advertising but the publisher will be limited to all my friends only. Targeted 100000 page impression a month for RM400 maximum of 10 advertiser. Sound kewl, but let me think first how :)

Rajawang.com vs Rajawang.net

For the past 1 month I am too busy and lazy to write in this blog. I just preferred to surf many politics related blog including Chedet.com

Only today, I took the opportunity to visit one of my must visit blog at least for the past 2-3 months. As usual rajawang always talk about money and nice to see his various effort to increase his online $$.

But one topic that caught my attention is on the rajawang.com clone which I believe just recently being setup ie. rajawang.net.

If you noticed, this blog domain is similar with the famous online newspaper malaysiakini.com. This is actually my second domain, and the first that I use to register for my adsense. Since I very naive on SEO etc, I thought that by using this kind of domain will get indirect hit through google search etc. without so much of hard work.

Guess what ? Yes for me its true, I get my first 100++ hit daily just within a week with very minimum advertisement. All organic hits comes through malaysiakini related search.

Whether its wrong or not, for me doesnt matter as long you dont copycat the web content. Afterall malaysia-kini.com and malaysiakini.com is 2 different things.

Online Used & New Car Marketplace : e-motortrader.net

E-motortrader.net is another new website for those who want to sell and buy car in Malaysia. I have been searching similar website recently, but I think this is one of the best in term of the design, functions and its free too.

With a proper marketing and also SEO technique I strongly believe that this will hit other paid website like OntheRoad and the famous Motor Trader as well. If I were the buyer, I would prefer to search online first before go for live ones.  And in term of online system, out of these 3 website, of course e-motortrader.net is very much better. Perhap the other 2 big guns should consider improving their website.

anyway, we shall return after 1 year to see  E-motortrader.net progress

The Malaysian Social Contract

This article was taken from our ex-Prime Minister, Ybhg Tun Dr. Mahathir blog. We might too lazy to read, understand about this, but please read what Tun has written here. It might help us to understand better.

  1. Before there was Malaya and Malaysia the peninsular was known as Tanah Melayu, or Malay Land.
  2. Saying this alone would result in accusations of being racist.
  3. But I need to go back in history if I am going to be able to explain about Malaysia’s social contract.
  4. Through treaties signed by the Rulers of the Malay States of the Peninsular the British acquired the right to rule the Malay States. These treaties obviously recognised and legitimised the States as Malay States. No one disputed this. Even the aborigines accepted this as shown by their submission to the rule of the Malay Sultans.
  5. Initially the peoples living in the States were divided into indigenous Malays and aborigines who were subjects of the Malay rulers and foreign guests who were not subjects of the rulers. There were no citizenship or documents about citizenship status as in most countries.
  6. The foreign guests prospered in the British ruled Malay States and in the British colonies of Penang, Malacca and Singapore. The Malay subjects of the Rulers and the Rulers themselves did not feel threatened by the numbers of these non-Malays and the disparities between the general wealth and progress of the foreign guests and the subjects of the Rulers. They did not think that the foreigners who had settled in the country would ever demand citizenship rights.
  7. When Japan conquered the Malay States and the colonies of the Straits Settlements, the Chinese felt insecure as the Japanese were their historical enemies.
